Richards dyer star thoery is split into 3 main points;

  • The star construction

  • The star as a commodity

  • The star as an ideology​

Richard dyer states that star is no real person but a personality that is constructed trough media; magazine, music videos, advertising and etc. These starts are constructed to appeal to a specific audience. This can be seen in stars such as Lady gaga who is know for her unique dressing style.

Star being a commodity is to produce money trough the use of merchandise such as toys, t-shirts and other stuff. This is why we u see many boy bands.

Star as ideology refers to the stars as someone who create a certen style that people try to copy. Furthermore stars must be extrodenary and ordenary becase we as humans we can relate and hope to be like but they cant because the star has a special talent
